The Cocoon

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”

- Zora Neale Thurston, 1969. -

Part of the impact of sexual trauma is the carrying of shame arising from not feeling heard or seen or safe to share with anyone, that feeling of being different and of something being wrong with you.

The Cocoon is a safe space to share and feel heard and be seen.

Dr Brene Brown has said that the antidote to shame is empathy. When you attend a Cocoon, online or in one of our face-to-face locations, you will feel safe enough to be seen and heard. Tina and other Institute members facilitate these spaces and pride themselves on co-creating a space where our chrysallites (victims and survivors) feel empowered to share and to heal in shared space.

The support groups are held monthly, supported by a Messenger thread and facilitated in three spaces.

You do not have to share your story, nor do you have to contribute unless you want to.

If you have been sitting in silence and suffering, message Tina and come along to a group to see if we are a fit for you.

The Cocoon is a free resource for victims and survivors of sexual trauma provided by The Blue Butterfly Institute.
